In 2007, we entered an international club tournament with a great group of guys (and 'The Lovely' Claire Donovan - as seen on TV), all playing for the cause and were successful in winning both this and the Robin Thorpe Trophy which we have contested with Hitchin RFC, remaining unbeaten in four years.
Our efforts on the field of play were matched by our wonderful sponsors which culminated in our exceeding our annual £5000 target by over £3500, resulting in The 'Winkles being presented with the coveted Fundraiser of the Year Award by The Lymphoma Association at their Beacons of Hope awards ceremony.

There was double reason to celebrate for the Lymphoma Association rugby team, aka The Periwinkles, at 15-a-side Bi-Annual International Rugby Festival hosted by Overton Rugby Club in Hampshire.
For the Periwinkles walked off with the honours AND raised a massive £6,000 for charity.
The toughest game in the tournament was undoubtedly the semi-final. A tense and hard-fought match was eventually won 3-0 thanks to their unflappable goal-kicker (Overton missed two penalties and two drop-goal attempts).
